Calleja Smiley is a dancer and certified STOTT® Pilates instructor, and will soon graduate from Alonzo King Lines Ballet/Dominican University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. As a lifelong mover, she discovered the profound effectiveness of Pilates at a young age and became passionate about guiding others to learn to live well in their own bodies with health, strength, and mindfulness. Calleja has taken courses and workshops at STOTT® training centers in Michigan, Houston, and San Francisco. She has been employed as a Pilates instructor at 3D Fitness and Fitcasa Inc. (Houston, TX), Begin Pilates (Point Reyes Station, CA), and currently teaches at Urban Guerilla (Kentfield, CA).
Amanda found Pilates in her junior year of high school. Her mother had back and knee surgeries and Pilates was suggested to gain strength back. They both began taking classes at Urban Guerrilla and loved it. She decided to get certified in her senior year of high school and finished her 6 month apprenticeship with Cyndee and Heidi just after graduation. Since then Amanda has been teaching in Petaluma in the summer and during Holidays she when is home from attending college at Loyola University Chicago. Amanda has a passion for Pilates and physical fitness and loves to see clients progress and achieve their goals.
Kristy was born and raised in San Anselmo. She has been practicing Pilates for over ten years and teaching for the past two years with Urban Guerrilla. Her passion for teaching Pilates stems from the personal benefit she has received by practicing it herself. She is longer, leaner, and stronger than ever, and wants to encourage others to strive for this state of being. Kristy loves to challenge her students, encouraging them to push their boundaries, and stay dedicated to their practice.
Bernadette Machard de Gramont
Bernadette received her BA in Dance from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. A “bunhead” at heart, she has received classical ballet training at Ballet Hawai’i, Queen Emma Ballet, ODC, and Alonzo King’s LINES Dance Center, and continues to take technique classes whenever she can. Bernadette embraced Pilates to help realign her own physical imbalances, and hopes to use her background to help dancers and non-dancers alike explore their strength and mobility by reconnecting with their bodies.
Beth found her passion for Pilates in high school. Her mom was taking private lessons after a shoulder injury and was amazed how much it helped the injury as well as her balance and muscle strength. She brought Beth to a class and she was instantly hooked. Beth continued taking classes through college and beyond. When she moved up to Northern California, Beth was ecstatic when she found Urban Guerrilla and completed her teacher training courses. She loves connecting with her clients and seeing their progress.
Amy Marie Pelly was trained in Pilates through The PhysicalMind Institute, and in Yoga through the Cloud Nine Yoga Training Program. Amy has been teaching Yoga and Pilates for over fifteen years. She specializes in postural reeducation, repetitive stress injuries, scoliosis, and core strengthening for low back pain. Her approach to training is through problem solving; she observes unhealthy postural/movement patterns and then teaches her students how to make corrections to reverse the problems. Through this process her students are able to achieve greater strength, mobility and postural awareness. Her students often report a significant decrease in physical discomfort and many are completely pain free. Amy continues her education on a regular basis to remain on the cutting edge in the Pilates and fitness industry, and has successfully completed the PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) exam. Amy loves to travel, and seeks out Pilates classes wherever she goes in order to broaden her scope of practice and share her newly learned techniques.
CynDee is the Founder of Urban Guerrilla and a Master Teacher in the Urban Guerrilla method. She helps athletes get better, stronger and faster through exercise and nutrition. She has over 20 years experience teaching Yoga and Pilates, and is a Health Coach and Paleo Chef. CynDee knows that exercise and good nutrition go hand in hand, and is passionate about bringing both to those who are interested and dedicated to making lifestyle changes. She has developed a rigorous interpretation of the Pilates Method and a Comprehensive Instructor Training Program, as well as a Master Teacher Certification in the Urban Guerrilla Method.
